Qualitative Research Manager (Remote - Canada or US Based)
Position Summary
Explorer Research, a shopper-focused research consultancy, seeks a Qualitative Research Manager. Our methodologies are aimed at optimizing shopper experience, packaging performance and go-to-market strategies.
At Explorer, the Qualitative Research Manager is responsible for the moderation of mobile boards / diary / ethnography studies, focus groups, IDIs and in-store shopalongs, the creation of study prep materials, the management of fieldwork, the collection and analysis of qualitative data, and report writing viewed through a storyteller lens.
The Qualitative Research Manager supports the day-to-day management of numerous projects, working with internal and external stakeholders and suppliers. We are looking for an individual to work on a small Qual team to support our clients.
Key Responsibilities
Working closely with the other Qual team members, the Qualitative Research Manager will support their team to help execute and deliver client projects. The role of Research Manager at Explorer oversees all aspects of the project setup / support, and analysis through reporting. It can include but is not limited to:
- Supplier sourcing and quotation requests
- Project, supplier, field and client management
- Screener development
- Moderation across a variety of research methodologies (including online boards, focus groups, IDIs, and shopalongs)
- Support to another moderator lead:
- Tech support for virtual studies
- Programming mobile boards
- Manage eye-tracking needs for face-to-face studies
- Notetaking
- Qualitative analysis
- Report creation/development & support on storytelling
- Video clipping
- Up to 25% travel in US and Canada (potential for more global travel as needs arise)
Ideal Candidate has the Following Skills & Experience
- 1-2 years of supplier side market research experience with solid understanding of consumer research and qualitative research methods
- Moderating experience
- Experience working in the CPG, retailer or shopper space required
- Experience setting up, managing, and moderating mobile board / diary / ethnography studies
- Experience writing screeners for recruit
- Experience managing third party suppliers (recruiters, research platforms)
- Experience in writing qualitative reports
- Experience using MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word
- Highly motivated, self-directed & driven; capable of working within tight deadlines
- Able to collaborate with a group as well as work independently with minimal oversight
- Superior organizational skills, tireless attention to detail & demonstrated commitment to the accuracy and completeness of information
- Excellent English communication skills; both oral & written
- Bachelor’s Degree or Graduate Program in a relevant field (e.g. Market Research, Consumer Insights, Psychology, Packaging Design, Business Insights, or other)
- Curious and interested in continuous learning and growth, including opportunities to further develop as a qualitative moderator (working toward moderating focus groups)

Quantitative Research Analyst (Remote - Canada Based)
Position Summary
At Explorer, Analysts play a key role in collecting, analyzing, and visualizing data to support our clients’ needs. This role involves managing multiple projects day-to-day, collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers. Analysts report to a Research Manager or Director and work as part of a team committed to delivering valuable insights to clients. Depending on experience, the position may be titled Data Analyst, Research Analyst, or Senior Research Analyst.

The Analyst role at Explorer covers a broad range of data-focused tasks, including:
- Managing supplier relationships
- Overseeing fieldwork for both internal and external projects
- Designing questionnaires
- Programming and testing questionnaires
- Managing project timelines
