Accessibility Policy

Policy Statement

Explorer Research is committed to providing a respectful, welcoming and inclusive environment for all persons. This policy encompasses respondents, employees, clients and the general public.

In June, 2005, the Ontario government passed the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA). The purpose of this Act is to create, implement and enforce standards of accessibility for all Ontarians. Explorer Research has put into place policies and practices as described in the AODA.

Training and Employment

Explorer Research provides training to staff on Ontario’s accessibility laws and on aspects of the Human Rights Code that apply to persons with disabilities. Training will be provided in a manner that best suits the individual duties of employees, volunteers and other staff members.

Explorer Research will also accommodate disabilities during recruitment or when people are hired. Additionally, we will customize workplace emergency information for employees with disabilities and take into account any accessibility needs.

Communications

Explorer Research will communicate effectively with people with disabilities. All staff will be cognizant of how people with specific disabilities communicate and communicate with them appropriately.

Procedure

Explorer Research will continue to identify and eliminate barriers to access for people with disabilities by:

  • Training staff to accommodate persons with disabilities
  • Assisting people with disabilities in accessing our facilities as required/requested Permitting a support person to accompany a person with disabilities while on our premises
  • Developing a process for people to provide feedback
